Big Steps Educational Daycare is a warm, family-style in-home program in Pinole, serving Contra Costa County families for nearly a decade. We partner with Child Start & Head Start to align our classroom practices with proven early-learning standards and to connect families with resources that support the whole child.

Founded by Ms. M.D. Boyd—a Bay Area native, mother, and holder of an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education, and an Associate of Arts in Social & Behavioral Science —Big Steps blends a cozy home environment with professional, developmentally appropriate care. Ms. M.D. Boyd also holds an Associate Teacher–Preschool credential. Our mixed-age setting feels like an extended family: children are known by name, share family-style routines, learn to help one another, and celebrate the diverse cultures of our community. We focus on social-emotional growth, early literacy and math, music and movement, and lots of purposeful play.
